Real Techniques Core Collection Brushes Review

Real Techniques Core Collection Brushes

I know the title of my blog implies that I write about fashion but as I've been unable to take any outfit photos recently, I was looking through the photos on my laptop and found these that I thought I'd write about. I'm planning on investing in a wireless remote adapter set for my Nikon D3100 as it doesn't have an Infra-red function on it, meaning I can't buy a normal remote! I also need a new tripod as my old one found it's way to the skip. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated as I'm terrible with camera stuff!

If you read beauty blogs or watch any beauty youtubers then you would've seen these wonderful brushes before. Real Techniques is a brand created by Samantha Chapman creating high quality affordable brushes for everyone to use. I can safely say they're amazing and they're the only brand of brushes I own!

Being a newbie to the beauty makeup world, this set of brushes are perfect to jump start your love for makeup. The brushes are multi-purpose and can be used for so many things. They're also super soft and being made from synthetic fibres, they are also super easy to clean!

The set consists of:
  • Buffing Brush (great for powder, blush, bronzer, contouring, foundation)
  • Contour Brush (great for blush, bronzer, contouring, blending in concealer)
  • Pointed Foundation Brush (great for liquid foundation)
  • Detailer Brush (great for lips, concealer, detail on eyeshadows)

So if you're considering buying these brushes, I highly recommend you do! I myself am now after the Starter Kit, Powder Brush and Blush Brush! Hope you liked this post and comment below if you'd like more of these types of posts!

Maybelline Baby Lips Review

From left to right - Pink Punch, Hydrate Me and Peach Kiss

I've been obsessed with Baby Lips for a while now, I think most of the appeal was because we couldn't get them in the UK for so long! When I was in Florida in February I got the Hydrate Me Baby Lips and fell in love with how hydrating it is for your lips! You can tell I got it in America because the packaging is different (I much prefer the new packaging).

Once I heard Baby Lips were coming to the UK, its fair to say I was super super excited to be able to buy them all over here! They've definitely been hyped up over Instagram, and I can honestly say the live up to expectations!

First up is Pink Punch. This is a bright pink tinted balm, which I find is a bit too bright for everyday wear but I still like to wear it on odd days. I'd probably say this is the Baby Lips I use the least, just because of the colour being too bright.

Secondly is my old trusty Hydrate Me (think it's called Quenched in the States). I find this the most hydrating and it actually feels like it's doing something good for your lips. This one isn't tinted so is perfect for everyday use, especially at school. Also this one has SPF in, which I don't think any of the others have, which is good for protecting your lips from those harmful rays (not that we get that much sun here).

Last but not least is Peach Kiss. This might not look too appealing in the tube (I certainly had second thoughts before buying it), but it's actually a gorgeous colour! I love this one as it leaves a lovely peachy sheen to your lips, kind of like "your lips but better" as all the Youtubers say! It's not too bright like Pink Punch so you can get away with this for a natural makeup look or even to school as I do sometimes!

I think Baby Lips are definitely worth the hype and if you're on the fence about following the crowd, go for it! They're great!

A Touch of Neon

Shirt - School Shirt / Jumper - River Island / Necklace - River Island / Jamie Jeans - Topshop / Vectra Shoes - Topshop

I'm fitting in this outfit post around learning French orals, typing up geography controlled assessment, doing maths homework, revising ICT and chemistry and preparing Spanish and English controlled assessments. Oh the joys of being in year 12 (year 11 to you English readers). I've only been back for a month and I'm already drowning in work and falling victim to procastination. I blame Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr... need I go on? I really need to get my act together so I can actually pass my GCSEs, gulp.

Today, I had a lovely meal out with my mum at The Canteen at The MAC Theatre in Belfast. It's Belfast Restaurant Week right now meaning lots of top restaurants in the city have some great deals right now so if you're in Belfast make sure to check them out! I was feeling super self conscious in this jumper feeling like every single person in Belfast was judging me. I'd feel fine if I was in London, just because everyone here dresses in an obligatory uniform of a tacky crop top, leggings and and Vans/Converse, they don't appreciate real fashion!

Other than feeling like a giant neon banana (think I heard someone on the bus refer to me as Spongebob Squarepants, Belfast is a wonderful place right?), this is the softest jumper EVER! I had a gift card and a 25% off voucher from ELLE Magazine so on Thursday I went out on a shopping spree in River Island. I couldn't really find anything nice in the Belfast store, despite seeing loads of nice stuff on the website, so I was struggling to find something nice! However this neon jumper stood out to me like WOW, so I felt I needed it. Also on my shopping spree I bought the chain necklace I'm wearing as I've been wanting one for AGES but never seen a nice one, so I had to pick it up!
