Jumper Days

Jumper - Urban Outfitters / Jeans - Topshop / Jacket - Miss Selfridge / Shoes - Vans @ Schuh

This is the outfit I wore today to go into town with my friend Niamh. I got some real bargains, which I'm super chuffed about. First I got some boring school supplies in the form of a lever arch file and a file block to try and persuade me to revise for mocks that start next week, still haven't revised though ah! Then I got a Christmas Eve bubble bar from Lush which was one of the only half price items left in the shop, a completely different story to Boxing Day! Man does the Christmas stock sell out fast! Next I got my best bargain of the day, a YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipstick (in shade 25 Taupe Raphael F.Y.I.) for only £12.50 from the YSL counter in House of Fraser! Crazy right?? I'm over the moon with it and it's such a perfect shade! Lastly, I went to Urban Outfitters and got a black mini cross body bag for only a fiver and some sequinned scrunchies for only £4. I'm super happy with all my purchases and chose to celebrate with a 1/4 plain chicken with peri chips and grilled halloumi at Nando's, mmm!

I got this jumper on Boxing Day for only £20 which I think is a bargain as it was over £40 to start off with. Also I tend to always grab jumpers to throw on with jeans on a regular basis as a simple outfit that looks like you put a bit more effort into it than you actually did. Then I paired it with my staple black Jamie jeans from Topshop, black biker jacket and my vans! I definitely need to get some Nike Air Max or something to mix things up a bit!

Happy Boxing Day!

Top - Motel Rocks / Jeans - Topshop / Socks - Topshop / Boots  - Topshop @ Next2Nowt

Happy Boxing Day everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas yesterday and got spoiled rotten! And to all those who don't celebrate Christmas, I hope you had a great day too!

I'm not sure if it's just me, but I think one of the best parts about Christmas is the Boxing Day sales. I went crazy in Lush and ended up spending over £40 on bath bombs, bubble bars and Snow Fairy shower gel! Some people may think that excessive but everything I got will definitely last me the year until next Boxing Day, and I won't buy anything else from there in-between now and then. If you haven't been to Lush yet, I definitely recommend you check out the sale because at 50% off you can't lose!

Another sale I visited was the Urban Outfitters sale where I got a jumper, pencil case, NYX palette and a nail polish for £32! I only checked out a small section of the store so there were probably more deals to be had, but I'd also definitely recommend visiting UO if you have a chance!

Ok, back to the outfit! I actually took these pictures on the 23rd but my laptop wouldn't read my SD card. Then I got a Macbook Pro for Christmas (big thank you to mum and dad) and now I could finally blog them! I feel like a professional blogger with a Macbook, especially with iPhoto and iMovie apps. I ordered the Motel Rocks top along with another top the other day and used the credit I'd accumulated from my discount code (enter OLIVIALIKESFASHION at the checkout for 20% off FYI) and someone else's 20% off code. A definite bargain and is a definite nod to the tartan trend. I also wore some frilly Topshop socks to dress up my ankle boots.

Work Work Work

Top - Topshop / Jeans - Topshop / Necklace - River Island / Shoes - Rock & Republic @ Kohl's

I've returned a working woman! Since blogging last I've got a job at Outfit which is an Arcadia Group shop selling Topshop, Topman, Dorothy Perkins, Burton, Miss Selfridge, Wallis, Warehouse and Fuse clothes all under one roof. Pretty amazing right? The dress code is all black so here you have a typical work outfit of mine. I got the top and jeans last weekend along with some other items using a 30% off staff friends and family discount so I was loving life! Hopefully if I get kept on after Christmas, I'll get a staff discount card and end up spending all my wages in Topshop! I also must point out these beautiful shoes my dad bought for me in Kohls while he was in Florida a few months ago! I love the Rock & Republic brand so I obviously love these shoes too!

You may notice a cheeky remote in my hand, YES I FINALLY GOT A WIRELESS REMOTE AND TRIPOD! So be prepared for more regular outfit posts yayayayayay!

P.S. I'm having some domain renewal problems right now, any ideas how to fix it??????

Real Techniques Core Collection Brushes Review

Real Techniques Core Collection Brushes

I know the title of my blog implies that I write about fashion but as I've been unable to take any outfit photos recently, I was looking through the photos on my laptop and found these that I thought I'd write about. I'm planning on investing in a wireless remote adapter set for my Nikon D3100 as it doesn't have an Infra-red function on it, meaning I can't buy a normal remote! I also need a new tripod as my old one found it's way to the skip. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated as I'm terrible with camera stuff!

If you read beauty blogs or watch any beauty youtubers then you would've seen these wonderful brushes before. Real Techniques is a brand created by Samantha Chapman creating high quality affordable brushes for everyone to use. I can safely say they're amazing and they're the only brand of brushes I own!

Being a newbie to the beauty makeup world, this set of brushes are perfect to jump start your love for makeup. The brushes are multi-purpose and can be used for so many things. They're also super soft and being made from synthetic fibres, they are also super easy to clean!

The set consists of:
  • Buffing Brush (great for powder, blush, bronzer, contouring, foundation)
  • Contour Brush (great for blush, bronzer, contouring, blending in concealer)
  • Pointed Foundation Brush (great for liquid foundation)
  • Detailer Brush (great for lips, concealer, detail on eyeshadows)

So if you're considering buying these brushes, I highly recommend you do! I myself am now after the Starter Kit, Powder Brush and Blush Brush! Hope you liked this post and comment below if you'd like more of these types of posts!

Maybelline Baby Lips Review

From left to right - Pink Punch, Hydrate Me and Peach Kiss

I've been obsessed with Baby Lips for a while now, I think most of the appeal was because we couldn't get them in the UK for so long! When I was in Florida in February I got the Hydrate Me Baby Lips and fell in love with how hydrating it is for your lips! You can tell I got it in America because the packaging is different (I much prefer the new packaging).

Once I heard Baby Lips were coming to the UK, its fair to say I was super super excited to be able to buy them all over here! They've definitely been hyped up over Instagram, and I can honestly say the live up to expectations!

First up is Pink Punch. This is a bright pink tinted balm, which I find is a bit too bright for everyday wear but I still like to wear it on odd days. I'd probably say this is the Baby Lips I use the least, just because of the colour being too bright.

Secondly is my old trusty Hydrate Me (think it's called Quenched in the States). I find this the most hydrating and it actually feels like it's doing something good for your lips. This one isn't tinted so is perfect for everyday use, especially at school. Also this one has SPF in, which I don't think any of the others have, which is good for protecting your lips from those harmful rays (not that we get that much sun here).

Last but not least is Peach Kiss. This might not look too appealing in the tube (I certainly had second thoughts before buying it), but it's actually a gorgeous colour! I love this one as it leaves a lovely peachy sheen to your lips, kind of like "your lips but better" as all the Youtubers say! It's not too bright like Pink Punch so you can get away with this for a natural makeup look or even to school as I do sometimes!

I think Baby Lips are definitely worth the hype and if you're on the fence about following the crowd, go for it! They're great!

A Touch of Neon

Shirt - School Shirt / Jumper - River Island / Necklace - River Island / Jamie Jeans - Topshop / Vectra Shoes - Topshop

I'm fitting in this outfit post around learning French orals, typing up geography controlled assessment, doing maths homework, revising ICT and chemistry and preparing Spanish and English controlled assessments. Oh the joys of being in year 12 (year 11 to you English readers). I've only been back for a month and I'm already drowning in work and falling victim to procastination. I blame Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr... need I go on? I really need to get my act together so I can actually pass my GCSEs, gulp.

Today, I had a lovely meal out with my mum at The Canteen at The MAC Theatre in Belfast. It's Belfast Restaurant Week right now meaning lots of top restaurants in the city have some great deals right now so if you're in Belfast make sure to check them out! I was feeling super self conscious in this jumper feeling like every single person in Belfast was judging me. I'd feel fine if I was in London, just because everyone here dresses in an obligatory uniform of a tacky crop top, leggings and and Vans/Converse, they don't appreciate real fashion!

Other than feeling like a giant neon banana (think I heard someone on the bus refer to me as Spongebob Squarepants, Belfast is a wonderful place right?), this is the softest jumper EVER! I had a gift card and a 25% off voucher from ELLE Magazine so on Thursday I went out on a shopping spree in River Island. I couldn't really find anything nice in the Belfast store, despite seeing loads of nice stuff on the website, so I was struggling to find something nice! However this neon jumper stood out to me like WOW, so I felt I needed it. Also on my shopping spree I bought the chain necklace I'm wearing as I've been wanting one for AGES but never seen a nice one, so I had to pick it up!

Currently Loving: Smock Dresses

I've seen smock dresses around recently and have fallen in love! I can just imagine myself wearing one with a biker jacket and some Jeffrey Campbell Coltranes (if I could afford them). So to show my affection to the smock dress, I thought I'd dedicate a whole blog post to them (oh Olivia, you're too kind).

Smock Dresses

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8

While I was getting pictures for this post, I was scrolling through ASOS and I forgot how amazing it is. Literally I loved everything! When/if I get a job (applied for about 20 jobs in the last month and most I got was an interview for Boots but I didn't hear back *sad times*) I can imagine myself spending all my wages on there. Plus I looked into an old love of mine YAYER which I've always loved but never bought anything from because I'm poor haha.

OH also if you're in the Belfast area/know someone who is, make sure to come to The MAC Theatre for the MADE Festival on 7th-13th October! I've been working on the festival along with a group of other young people every week for about 6 months to put this together and it's finally happening! There's loads of free events along with ticketed events which are super reasonable so please make sure you check it out, the website is here. Also make sure to follow our Twitter page @TheDenCollective to hear about the latest things happening!

Animal Crossing: New Leaf Review Part 1

As you may know from my previous post about the Nintendo 3DS XL I'm being loaned by Nintendo right now, I'm reviewing the new Animal Crossing game New Leaf. Firstly I must warn you that it is extremely addictive! I love playing this game so much, so I'll give you an insight in the general day-to-day playing of the game!

So here's my little character outside Peanut's house! You can customise your characters clothes and buy accessories as well!

Here's my character trying on a bunny hat at the Able Sisters shop on Main Street. They have different clothes and accessories everyday so make sure to visit often! Also, you can design your own dress, hats and umbrellas and display them in store!

As Mayor of your town, you get to take part in Public Works Projects to build things in your town! You have to save up bells (the currency in the game) to fund the build, then it'll take a day to complete. Once complete, Isabelle (your assistant who works in the Town Hall) will organise a big opening ceremony!

You can go and visit all your neighbours house's in your town. This was when Jacques moved in. You'll frequently have new characters move to your town, and sadly some move away too!

You can be blighted with rainy weather even in the virtual world, so obviously you need a umbrella to keep you dry, this one I designed myself!

You can socialise with all your neighbours while walking round your town. Isn't Peanut the cutest little pink person ever?

Speaking of earning bells for your town and public works projects, the best way to earn money is to sell fruits and fossils you've dug up at the Re-Tail shop by the train station.

I hope you enjoyed this little insight into Animal Crossing: New Leaf!

Casual Saturday

Jumper - Topshop (old) | Jamie Jeans - Topshop | Jacket - Miss Selfridge | Le Pliage Tote Bag - Longchamp | Shoes - Topshop (old)

Hooray, I've finally got round to posting an outfit post! I apologise for being such a rubbish blogger and promise to post more regularly, especially as the streets around my new house are so pretty!

This is a kind of go-to outfit for me because I can just throw it on and not worrying about what I look like. I'm in love with my Jamie jeans! I grabbed them in the sale in Topshop Bluewater a few months ago and have been wearing them constantly ever since! I still love the Joni jeans but they weren't too flattering on me, however these are basically the same just with pockets on the front. Also, I'm debuting my new Longchamp Le Pliage Tote which has been strapped to my shoulder ever since I bought it! I bought it in the Harrods in Gatwick duty free for only £56 opposed to £72! I use it as both a handbag and a school bag and it fits so much stuff in it, I'd definitely recommend it!

Today, me and my mum went out for brunch at Slim's Healthy Kitchen on Lisburn Road in Belfast. We actually got there too late for breakfast so it was more of an early lunch. I had teriyaki chicken with sweet potato fries and a peanut butter protein shake and mumma burn had teriyaki chicken with chilli and lime sweet potato mash with a protein boost protein shake. It was so tasty and super filling, making us feel super chuffed with ourselves for eating healthy! This is the start of my new lifestyle change, eating healthy and joining the gym so I can lose weight by the time sixth form starts next september!

After all this, we went to Sainsburys and bought loads of unnecessary food and browsed our way through Ikea amidst all the students buying uni supplies! Hope you enjoyed this little insight into my day! If you want to see more pictures of my day-to-day life, follow my instagram accounts @oliviaburn and @oliviaburnxo

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh Sunshine Edition

I've always adored the perfume bottles for all the different Marc Jacobs Daisy perfumes on Instagram and in stores, so I was over the moon when my mum bought me one for my birthday last month! This is my first Marc Jacobs perfume but if this one is anything to go by, I want to buy all of them! That's how much I love this perfume. If you thought the bottles were pretty enough, the scent is perfect.

I'm terrible with describing different perfume scents but I'd describe this as a fruity, fresh smell perfect for summer. When you spray it, it just makes your day 10x better.

Even though we're approaching fall, I'll still be trying to get away with spraying this all over me before I leave the house. I'm not sure if this is still available as it was limited edition, but if you don't own a Marc Jacobs perfume, you should go out and buy one straight away!

Nintendo 3DS XL Console Review

Nintendo 3DS XL Console*

I might have been off the blogger radar for almost a month (thank moving and no wifi!), but now I'm back with something super super exciting! I was loaned this beautiful bit of technology by Nintendo to review the games Animal Crossing: New Leaf and New Style Boutique, so this will be the first in a series of my techy-lifestyle posts that will unlock the inner child in you!

Firstly, I'd kind of overlooked Nintendo in the last few years. I owned a DS in the past but didn't really use it much, then I got a Wii console which I hardly get the time to use. However I'd seen the new 3DS XL console and after reading Michelle's posts about her console, I wanted a piece of the action! When Lucy from Nintendo's PR company emailed me asking if I would review some games for her, I jumped at the chance! I feel really bad for having this console for almost a month without posting (again blame moving house and having no wifi), but I feel now I'm definitely well informed on the ins and outs of the console and I think this console review will be great to ease you guys into the upcoming series of game reviews coming up!

Where do I start? I'll start with it's appearance. It's a trendy piece of kit with its shiny silver surface along with black plastic on the inside. It's thin and lightweight meaning it's easy to carry around in your handbag if you have a long commute to work/school ahead of you. Also, battery life isn't a problem as I've found it'll last for hours, and it charges up in no time!

There are a multitude of easy to use controls, from the iconic 'Y', 'X', 'A' and 'B' buttons to the Circle Pad and + Control Pad. There are also some more advanced controls like a motion sensor and gyro sensor (meaning you can tilt and move the console, kind of like with a Wii controller). However, it wouldn't be a DS without the iconic Stylus which can be used on the bottom touch screen.

Also I must address the issue of it being in 3D. It always baffled me how it can be 3D but you don't need to wear glasses! The 3D Depth Slider on the right hand side changes the top screen from 2D to 3D, and you can adjust how '3D' the screen appears by only pushing it a quarter of the way or halfway.

I must say this is an impressive bit of kit and I wish I could keep it and call it my own, but its only on loan *cries*. Hopefully you enjoyed this post and will look forward to the game reviews to follow!

Persun Mall Wishlist

Persun Mall Wishlist
Daisy top | Floral shirt | Dress | Denim shorts | Striped shirt | Cow print shorts | Coloured shirt | Neon top

Persun Mall is definitely a favourite in the blogger world, well at least on all the blogs I read! Maybe it's due to their great blogger scheme, or maybe its the amazing clothes! Normally with these Asian fashion websites like Oasap, I'm not too blown away with their clothes but it's oh so different with Persun Mall! I've come up with a theory that these pieces are so alike to their high street counterparts that they must be taken from the factories and sold on here as well! Take those denim shorts, identical to the ones in Topshop. Now look at that iconic black and white striped blouse that every Zara employee seems to be wearing, and the cow print shorts I saw in one of Zoella's videos. Must be the same as the Zara ones! So there, proof that they must be exactly the same! So if you want these high street items at a fraction of the price, Persun Mall is the place to be!

Monki Appreciation Post

Monki set the blogging world crazy when they opened their first store in Carnaby Street, London earlier last year but somehow I overlooked it. Everyone was raving about their great clothes at affordable prices, but I never even clicked onto their website! That is until today when I took the plunge and scrolled through their online store. OH BOY ITS HEAVEN! The Cheap Monday sister brand has an abundance of funky clothing which is most definitely street-style worthy. I've seen many bloggers sporting the brand recently and maybe I should too!

I couldn't tell you about a brand that's caught my eye without putting together a cute collage of my favourite pieces, so here ya go!MONKI
Look at how perfect these pieces are, my personal favourites are the printed blouses and the neon jumper! Also nothing in this picture is over £30, not often I can say that! Definitely affordable for my teen bank balance!

I'm supposed to be going to London on Thursday, mainly to visit the #AALondonOutlet store in Brick Lane (to see if I can get some cheap EasyJeans!) and to delve into a burger at the newly opened Five Guys! So hopefully I'll find myself walking the streets of Carnaby Street to take a look at this mighty Monki store!

P.S. Sorry for not blogging very frequently on here, I promise to get into more of a 'blogging schedule' once I'm back in Belfast :)

Brandy Melville

Brandy Melville

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8

From the moment I laid eyes on the Brandy Melville website, I knew it was love. I had to really restrict myself to these 8 items when putting together this collage, because if I had my way I would've put everything on it! It has a great boho California vibe to it which I adore! I always say if I was skinnier I'd have to order everything from the website, but hopefully with my plans to lose weight, I can look good in their clothes in no time!

Brandy Melville maybe an American brand, but they just opened a shop on Kings Road in London so I'll definitely have to try and take a visit!

What's the Craic?

Dress - Motel Rocks // Belt - Urban Outfitters // Shoes - Topshop

Long time no speak! I seem to have been starting all my posts like this recently... I've just been lacking the motivation to blog! I've also been all over the place, going to Ireland and England. By the title, you can tell this particular photo was taken in Ireland!

Last week I was in Co. Clare, Ireland visiting some long lost relatives that we hadn't seen in 15 years (so when I was a baby). The view was amazing, and the pictures look like it was cold but it really wasn't! At the moment, it's the hottest place in the British Isles! Gutted I'm not still there! The fam treated us by taking us out to meals at The Atlantic Hotel and it was delicious! It was such a great trip, just wish it wasn't a 4 hour car journey down there from Belfast!

This isn't really a new outfit, more like a modified one. I took my beloved Motel Rocks dress and trusty Topshop Vectras. However I added my Urban Outfitters belt to make it more interesting/tough.

Also in other news, I applied for a Christmas temp weekend job! I completed the online assessment they make you do, and I got an email saying they've sent my application to the interviewer! I really really hope I get the job, surrounded by makeup all day? Heaven!

Missguided Lovin'

Missguided Lovin'
1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6

I was looking through the Missguided website and I thought I just had to write a blog post about it as the clothes at the moment are amazing! Missguided have always been a firm favourite of mine for providing great clothes at reasonable prices, and the customer service is amazing too! Once I ordered a dress and it came the next day even though I didn't pay for next day delivery and they said they don't do next day delivery to Northern Ireland!

Number 1 is definitely my favourite by far! I've been loving the dungarees trend and these daisy print ones are absolutely perfect!
Secondly, I love tie dye prints and this dress is just so bright and colourful that I have to have it! I know people who tie dye their own things but I'd just make a mess and the end product would probably look terrible!
I love this lace crop top at number 3! It's perfect for summer or even layered up in winter!
Number 4 is a great tiger print top but the black collar just makes it for me! It'd make a great simplistic outfit with black skinny jeans!
Finally we get to the shoes! I love shoes with wooden heels and these 2 are perfect, especially as they look like a certain pair from Topshop just at half the price!

Sunnier Times

Dress - Topshop // Necklace - eFoxCity* // Belt - Miss Selfridge (taken from another dress) // Sunglasses - H&M // Shoes - Topshop

Hi guys, sorry I haven't posted in a while! You can probably tell I took these pictures a few weeks ago when it was lovely and sunny! Can't exactly say the same today as it's been raining all day! But I'm not going to let the weather put a dampener on the fact that ITS ONE WEEK UNTIL SUMMER YAY! School is going to be all over the place this week as on Monday we have a Young Enterprise day, Thursday we get out at 1:15 and Friday we get out at 12! Sadly, I have to go to a summer ICT boot camp at the University of Ulster the week after... I seriously have no idea what to expect. Please let there be some normal people there instead of weird geeky boys ew.

I'm kind of annoyed with this dress because I bought it a few weeks ago and now it's in the sale! On the other hand, I took a top back that I wasn't sure about and now that's in the sale so at least that's a good point! So I finally got this dress and I love it! Its so versatile but this time I decided to keep it simple and wear it with a skinny brown belt! Next time I think I'll layer it with a white collared shirt or something! I paired the dress with this cute coloured triangle necklace that was sent to me by eFoxCity! Too bad it's a bit crooked in the first picture (my OCD is getting the better of me!).

Festival Fashion

Festival Fashion

1 // 2 // 3 // 4

Hi guys! Long time no speak! I had some outfit posts planned but life has gotten the better of me, also I went for a weekend away back to my hometown of Kent to celebrate my mum's birthday so I've been without my laptop for a few days, and blogging on my phone just isn't the same! Also, Blogger was being funny with the aligning and all my text had a huge indent and I couldn't work out how to correct it so I'm using centred font for once!

I was sent an email notifying me of this competition on the Charles Clinkard website to put together an outfit you'd wear at a festival, featuring some Hunter wellies. What do you think the winner gets? You guessed it, a pair of Hunter wellies! This was actually a really exciting outfit to put together as I'm going to my first ever festival in August! Me and my friend Bekah are going to Tennent's Vital in Belfast where we're going to be seeing Avicii, Tinie Tempah, Rudimental and Tommy Trash. Regrettably, I've never heard of the latter but Tinie Tempah is my man so it'll be all good!

When I went about putting together this outfit, I always had in mind the whole skater skirt, parka jacket with bare legs and wellies look. So here you have a slightly modified version of my vision!

I love the polka dot dress from Yayer (you need to refrain me from going on their website because I'll just buy everything if I could!). I thought it'd be a great flowy dress and not too dressy for a festival! Although this wouldn't go with a parka (but I did see this amazing parka from Topshop here that I'm lusting after), so I ended up opting for plan B which was a denim jacket. I've always loved the whole oversized denim jacket look but I'm still yet to own one! This one is great and perfect for that festival vibe! Lastly, I was scrolling through the Glamorous website and for some reason this tote bag caught my eye and I could just picture on the arm of someone in a muddy field in the sunshine. Oh, and then the Hunter wellies of course!

Hope you liked the outfit, and if you would like to enter the competition, here's the link!
